Fondé en 1967, le Montreux Jazz Festival organise pendant 15 jours une série de soirées concerts. Une programmation, qui, contrairement à ce que pourrait laisser croire son nom, explore de nombreux styles musicaux.
Ce festival mythique a accueilli les plus grands : Santana en 1970, Miles Davis en 73, Ray Charles en 78, Marvin Gaye en 80, James Brown en 81, John Lee Hooker en 83, Leonard Cohen en 85, Eric Clapton en 86, Joe Cocker en 87, etc...
Ces dernières années ont été tout autant exceptionnel notamment avec : Prince, Beastie Boys, Death In Vegas, Queens of the Stone Age, The Strokes, Norah Jones, James Blunt, PJ Harvey, Tricky, Cypress Hill, Beck,...
